Super Eagles and Benfica defender Tyronne Ebuehi is facing about a year out of action after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.

Ebuehi just resumed pre-season in Benfica ahead of what would have been his debut season with the Portuguese club.

Benfica made the announcement about the injury on Monday, July 30.

 

The athlete Tyronne suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee and will undergo surgical intervention in the next few days,” Benfica announced on their website Monday.

No further details were given about the injury.

The right-back played two games for Benfica in this pre-season and was in action in their 2-4 penalty shootout loss to Juventus on Saturday, July 28,

The Nigeria international was a 67th-minute substitute in the game against Juve.

 

He signed for Benfica just before the 2018 FIFA World Cup from Dutch side ADO Den Haag.

Ebuehi played just one game for the Super Eagles at the 2018 World Cup. He has seven caps for Nigeria.
