Emmanuel Amuneke: Former Super Eagles winger appointed coach of Tanzania

Amuneke and Bora will be playing huge roles at 2018 World Cup

This is Emmanuel Amuneke's sixth job since he completed his coaching course in Europe in 2008.

Former Super Eagles winger Emmanuel Amuneke has been appointed coach of the Tanzania national team.

Amuneke was unveiled by the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) on Monday, August 6.

The 47-year-old has been out of job since he left his post as coach of Sudanese club Al-Khartoum Watani.

This will be Amuneke’s sixth coaching job since he completed his coaching courses in Europe in 2008 and excluding his post as the assistant head coach at Saudi Arabian side Al-Hazm F.C.

He managed Julius Berger and Ocean Boys before he was appointed coach of Nigeria’s U-17 national team, the Golden Eaglets.

It was with his Golden Eaglets he won the first and only trophy of his coaching career so far, leading Nigeria to win the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup title in Chile.

He was later promoted to the U-21 but failed to qualify for the 2017 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Zambia.

He took over as coach of Watani in November 2017 but quit just after four months after the club told him to take a pay cut.

The former player told Pulse Sports in April 2018 that he enjoyed his time in Sudan.

Football in Sudan is great, the league this season was very very unbelievable,  divided into two groups each group had to produce four teams making eight for the playoff. So either you are in the playoff or you are playing for relegation. I was impressed,” he said.
