Is That A Threat? Egypt FA official reminds Salah that his mother still lives in Egypt as row continues
A statement by EFA official Khaled Lateif about Mohamed Salah's mother is generating controversy.
Egyptian Football Association (EFA) official Khaled Lateif reminded Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah where his mother lives in as both sides continue their row.
Lateif who is a board member of the EFA came out to fire warning shots at Salah who is the reigning Player of the Year in England.
The 26-year-old criticised the Egyptian Football body for the role they played in preparation as they crashed out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup at the group stage.
Salah who is seen as a leader in the Egyptian national team set up stated that their were inconsistencies from the FA which may have hindered or impacted their progress on the pitch of play in Russia.
According to a report by Al Jazeera Salah gave his opinion on their outing in Russia through a message of his official Facebook account, where he revealed that their were to many distractions in camp.
He said, "We had many disturbances at the team's camp during our participation at the World Cup in Russia.
"I'm the person that these things happen to. I'm the person who gets harmed by these things."
Lateif responded to the points highlighted by Salah with a message which most of his supporters have labelled as a threat.
The cryptic message stated that the multiple award winner may not be in the in his home country but his mother is.
He said, "I'd like to remind @MoSalah that your mother is still in Egypt. You are abroad and can do as you wish. Those who understand, understand."
Salah will return to action when he and his Liverpool teammates travel to the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City on Saturday. September 1.
After their poor outing at the World Cup, the 2017/18 UEFA Men's Player of the Year award nominee is expected to lead Egypt when they host Niger Republic in a 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier scheduled for Saturday, September 8.
