New Jersey Alert: Manchester United go pink for new away kit
The new Manchester United away pink jersey is a tribute to a local newspaper.
Manchester United decided and their jersey makers decided to go pink for their 2018/19 away jersey.
The Premier League outfit in partnership with their jersey sponsors international sportswear giant Adidas unveiled the new away kit for the season on Tuesday, August 28.
Unlike the home kit which has the traditional red and black, the new away kit is a shade of light pink.
The new kit pays tribute to The Football Pink which is a locally based newspaper but was closed down in 2007.
The Football Pink was a favourite among United supporters and the new jersey embodies the characteristics of the paper and the latest trend which should catch on among supporters.
The United Review gave its verdict about the new material and the tribute to the local newspaper.
A report by the paper stated on its front page that, “Its legacy endures and this season The Pink rides again.
"Not just in the hearts and minds of the fans, but on the backs of their heroes too."
According to several reports the new kit will be debuted when Jose Mourinho's team aim to bounce back against Burnley after their disappointing defeat to Tottenham on Sunday, September 2.
The new material gives a feel-good factor mixed with a casual yet trendy and smart outlook
