Police nab Tipper truck Thieves in Niger

Police in Niger State have intercepted a gang of tipper truck thieves along Sabo Wuse in Tafa Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects, Samson Audu, 32, Philip Amodu, 25, Safiu Amisu, 29, and Ismaila Aburata, 27, were trailed and apprehended by the police detectives attached to Tafa Division based on a tip-off.

Inside Niger gathered that the suspects had stolen a yellow Iveco Tipper truck with registration number Lagos KTU 422 XP belonging to Sinoma Kun-Shan Chinese Company in Lagos brought the vehicle to northern part of the country for sell.

One of the suspects, Umar Haruna who is a driver in the Chinese company was said to have diverted the truck from Lagos to Niger state to look for a buyer.

The truck was put at a selling price of N3 million but luck ran out of them as they were nabbed before they could secure a buyer.

One of the suspects, Audu said that Haruna, who is now at large, was the one who sold the idea to steal and sell the vehicle.

He said that he did not know how and where Haruna got the truck from, “Haruna will be in better position to explain where he got the tipper truck, ours is to look for the buyer and take our own commission we have been into this business for some time this is not the first time people are bringing vehicles to us to look for buyer.”

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar said that Umar Haruna is still at large but the police are on his trail.
