Simi is going to be making a first appearance in a movie and it looks like we will be seeing the other side of the music star that we didn't know about.

Simi is about to make her acting debut in Kunle Afolayan's new movie, 'Mokalik' and both parties are excited about the project.

Kunle Afolayan announced the big news on his Instagram page on Monday, August 27, 2018. According to the seasoned movie director, Simi accepted the movie role after going through the script for a week.

She paid a visit to Kunle Afolayan's production outfit's office, Golden Effect Pictures where she was beaming with all smiles to take on the new role. Simi will be playing Simi; daughter of a Buka (cafeteria)owner whose character holds a significant part in the movie plot.

'Mokalik' (Mechanic) follows the career of an 11-year-old boy, Jaiye, from the middle-class suburbs who spends the day as a lowly apprentice at a mechanic workshop in order to view life from the other side of the tracks. Afolayan says ‘Mokalik’ is a slight departure from the flicks he had shot in the past, adding that there will be two versions of the film; one for the Nigerian market – the other for the international market.

In the all-Yoruba cast movie, Simi will be acting alongside notable actors like Femi Adebayo, Ayo Adesanya, Faithia Williams, Lateef Oladimeji and comic actors like Wale Akorede (Okunu), Ayo Ogunshina (Papa Lolo) and Dayo Akinpelu (Alabi Yellow)

Another singer who has played a role in a movie in 2018 is Davido. The music played the role of pilot turned billionaire businessman, Captain Idahosa Okunbo.
