The Coronation 2: MI Abaga wears the crown with thrilling set at the 2nd edition of the hip-hop concert

MI Abaga, Terry Apala and more light up the stage at the second edition of hip-hop showcase, 'The Coronation'.

The Coronation is a platform provided to breathe life back into the hip-hop scene in Nigeria and in its second edition, there is plenty worth celebrating.

The second edition of The Coronation, a hip-hop event hosted by Loose Kaynon and A-Q for 100 Crowns, and supported by foremost label, Chocolate City, went down at the Silverbird Galleria, Lagos with rapper MI Abaga as the headline act.

The show started by shining light on a number of talented upcoming rappers as the crowd began to gather in their numbers.

There were a number of  upcoming acts who performed on the night, including the Don't Drop The Mic (DDMT) freestyle quartet, Lyrical Doctor Smith, a northern rapper signed to Ice Prince's Super Kool Kat Records, who had one of the best performances on the night.

 

Multi-Instrumentalist Ed Izycs brought something different to the Coronation stage with his deft performance.

Others include, femcee Respekt, Shakez, Street Billionaires with lead member, Gbafun impressive as always, Alpha who recently dropped his debut album, Half Price, was also present as he introduced the crowd to his 'Ocean Wave.'

Just before MI Abaga took to the stage, there was still time for Uzikwendu, Terry Apala and Blaq Bonez, who performed songs off his upcoming album 'Bad Boy Blaq' to do their thing.

The loudest cheer of the night was however reserved for the Chairman, MI Abaga, as he took centre stage.

 

MI performed songs from his last body of work, Rendezvous, then took several journeys back performing 'Short Black Boi', 'Bad Belle', 'Overkillin', 'Safe' and even a medley of songs from other artistes, as he constantly interacted with the crowd.

He then brought on stage young acts, Straffiti and Blaq Bonez as they performed the song, 'Slow' together.

Hip-hop made a call on the night, and its disciples obeyed in decent numbers, which included O.A.P's, Folu Storms, Douglas Jekan, Raezy, singer Ruby and talent manager Godwin Tom and Obinna Agwu.

As MI closed the stage, the crowd dispersed satisfied that there is yet light for the culture and 'The Coronation' is a clear pointer to that fact.
