Saraki, Ezekwesili, Atiku congratulate Super Eagles on AFCON ticket

The efforts of the Super Eagles of Nigeria to pick up a ticket to the 2019 AFCON have not gone unnoticed by top politicians.

Presidential aspirants Atiku Abubakar and Oby Ezekwesili along with Senate President Bukola Saraki, have congratulated the Super Eagles of Nigeria for picking up a ticket to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Super Eagles pick up AFCON ticket

An own goal from Buhle Mkhwanazi in the 10th minute gave the Super Eagles the lead but was cancelled out by Lebo Mothiba in the 26th minute as the game ended 1-1 at full time.

By securing a 1-1 draw at the FNB Stadium in South Africa, the Super Eagles booked a place at the 2019 AFCON with 10 points from five group games.

Super Eagles congratulated

The highly renowned politicians were quick to praise the Super Eagles of Nigeria for booking a place at the AFCON after missing out of the last two editions in 2015 and 2017.

Atiku who supported the Special Eagles to the amputee world cup took to his official Twitter account to praise the team’s efforts.

 

He said, “Congratulations @NGSuperEagles on qualifying for the 2019 #AFCON. We will be here to cheer you to victory in the coming tournament.”

 

Ezekwesili also posted on her Twitter account hailing the Super Eagles and also drumming support for the Super Falcons of Nigeria that will be participating at the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON).

 

She said, “Huge congratulations to our @NGSuperEagles who have confirmed their spot at the @AFCON_2019

“Your cheering compatriots are counting on you to go a step ahead and continue working hard to bring the cup home once again.

“Folks, tomorrow we root for our @NGSuper_Falcons.”

 

Senate President Saraki said, “Congratulations @NGSuperEagles on qualifying for #AFCON2019, you’ve made us all proud!.”

 

The Super Eagles return to Nigeria to take on the Cranes of Uganda in an international friendly at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba o Tuesday, November 20.
