2019 Champions Leagues ends with a viewing party at Heineken House

The 2019 Champions League season ended with a party as premium beer brand Heineken hosted a viewing party for the final game between Liverpool and Tottenham at the recently upgraded Heineken House.

Before the match, fans had a chance to predict which club will take home the coveted UCL trophy.

“I am hopeful that Tottenham will win this match. I mean, they have had a great match so far and have obviously worked their way up. It’s not easy. But having been in the Champions League final for the first time, we have to be optimistic for the future. Like they always say, let the best team win,” said Omotunde Adeniyi, a Tottenham fan.

The road to Madrid has been one exciting journey for fans all over the world as the teams who played in this season’s UCL put up quite a show and gave fans 90 minutes of fanfare, game after game. As the tournament progressed, it seemed more of a huge contest, this time, not just for the teams to win and progress, but for them to surpass the mad thriller fans had gotten from previous games.

At the end of the match with Mohamed Salah scoring to give the Reds the 1-0 lead and Divock Origi scoring the second goal later on Liverpool were crowned European champions for the sixth time.

A visibly excited Liverpool fan Denis Eze said, “I feel elated, my boys did it again, This is definitely one of the best moments of my life and I’m so proud I support this football club. Initially, I was a bit sceptical, but then we are Liverpool, we’ll never walk alone. We made history yet again and I look forward to what the future holds for us.”

As a long-standing sponsor of the UEFA Champions League, Heineken constantly connects with football fans all over the world during the UCL season using different activities to engage them. In 2016, the brand launched pop-up experience centres across Nigeria and these centres have provided Nigerian fans with a meeting point to celebrate the beautiful game.

For the semi-finals, Heineken sponsored seven fans to Liverpool for the semi-finals and they got the chance to watch one of the greatest comebacks in UCL history. This came right after the brand had completed a tour of the UCL trophy in Nigeria which featured a novelty match with Barcelona Legend, Carles Puyol

While speaking on the UCL Final viewing, in Madrid Heineken’s Senior Brand Manager, Mfon Bassey said: “The atmosphere is electric atmosphere it was an amazing time, from the kick-off to final whistle and beyond, and we are truly proud as a brand to be a part of this”.

Not only did the fans get an exclusive viewing alongside other football lovers, but they also enjoyed music performances from top artiste, MI Abaga at half time and the after party. Fans definitely had fun memories to live with, because there ain’t no party like a Heineken party!
