PDP wins Kaduna Assembly bye election

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s candidate, Alhaji Usman Baba (Ubale), has been declared winner of the bye election for Sabon Gari Constituency of Kaduna Assembly.
Returning Officer Dr Mohammed-Nuruddin Musa announced Baba has been duly elected having satisfied the requirements of law and polled the highest valid vote cast of 9,113.
He defeated his closest contender from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Malam Musa A.Musa who polled 7,404 votes.
He also announced Anas Abdullahi of the ADC polled 62 votes Chindo Ibrahim of ADP polled 61 votes and Musa Halilu of PRP polled 305 votes.
Alhough there was low turn out of eligible voters during the election, electorates conducted themselves in a peaceful and orderly manner throughout the process.
The seat occupied by Hon. Aminu Shagali, representing the constituency on the platform of the APC was declared vacant in April after he was alleged to have absconded from activities of the Assembly for more than 365 days following his removal as Speaker.
