What you missed about dune’s characters

In case you didn’t notice, Dune is an assemblage of Marvel and DC heroes and villains.

One of the elements that make Dune such a fantastic watch is the array of A-list actors appearing scene after scene, whether it is Jason Momoa with a shaved beard which is unusual or the charming Zendaya basking in her aura of mystery. However, for Marvel and DC fans, the thrill of dune exists beyond its top-notch visual experience and futuristic intergalactic battles. It's the presence of familiar faces who have portrayed characters from the fictional worlds of two of the most prominent comic universes, and here are eight of them.

Starting with,

1. Jason Momoa: The god of the sea in the DC universe flicks Aquaman and justice league played Duncan Idaho, a fierce and skilled fighter for Atreides’ house.
2. Josh Brolin: In “Dune,” the actor plays Gurney Halleck, an Atreides soldier, Paul’s family friend and weapons instructor. Before his role as “Dune”, Brolin played various comic book characters.
3. First, he played the titular bounty hunter in the 2010 DC movie “Jonah Hex.” Later, he played Marvel villains Nathan Summers / Cable (in “Deadpool 2”) and the Mad Titan named Thanos (as part of the MCU’s Infinity Saga).
4. Zendaya: Who plays Chani in Villeneuve’s film. Chani is one of the Fremen residing on Arrakis, and her storyline intertwines significantly with that of the movie’s protagonist, Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet). Zendaya stars in the current Spider-Man series alongside Tom Holland, portraying the hero’s love interest, Mary Jane.
5. Dave Bautista: Who plays Beat Rabban, took the role of Drax in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy films.
6. Stellan Skarsgard: Skarsgard played scientist Erik Selvig in the first two Thor movies and The Avengers. The actor takes on a much different role in Dune, playing Vladimir Harkonnen, the movie’s Big Bad. Harkonnen is a rival and enemy of Leto Atreides, and he was the catalyst for the challenges House Atreides faced throughout the film.
7. Oscar Isaac: The Guatemalan-American actor made his appearance as Duke Leto Atreides before joining the MCU, but he’s still a real Marvel star. Following Dune‘s release, Isaac will play Moon Knight is Marvel’s Disney series about the character.
8. David Dastmalchian: Although David Dastmalchian appeared in Marvel Antman (2018), it wasn’t until this year he had his breakout performance as Polka-dot-man In James Gunn cut of DC’s ‘The Suicide Squad’ less than four months after, the actor reappears on the big screen again. This time as the villainous Piter De Vries, a human-computer and right-hand man of the monstrous Baron Harkonnen (Stellan Skarsgard).
