Alex Iwobi: Arsenal midfielder pleads for patience for new boss Emery
Following consecutive defeats against Manchester City and Chelsea, Iwobi says Arsenal are a work in progress.
Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has stated that Arsenal supporters will have to be patient with new boss Unai Emery.
Iwobi played his first Premier League game of the season in Arsenal 3-2 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, August 18.
The 22-year-old was on target to score Arsenal’s equaliser but they still lost the encounter.
The result meant that Arsenal are yet to pick up any points this season after a 2-0 loss in their opener against Premier League champions Manchester City.
In a report by BT Sports Iwobi stated that Arsenal supporters will have to exercise patience s the players are just getting used to the tactics of the new boss after the departure of Arsene Wenger.
He said, "We enjoy training, everyone is buying into his idea.
"It all takes time, a new manager, a new system and the fans and players know that."
Iwobi also talked about how the players rallied themselves back from two goals down before halftime.
He said, "We started shakily, I don't know, maybe we didn't know what to do, but we picked ourselves up and got going.
"We were on a high. The message was to keep it going, keep our head and don't lose ourselves. We fought hard for him."
Iwobi and his Arsenal teammates return to action when they host West Ham United in a London derby scheduled for Saturday, August 25.
