1. Salah is 26-years-old
Born in El Gharbia, Nagrig in Egypt on the June 15, 1992, Mohamed Salah is 26-years-old.
2. Salah’s previous clubs
Salah started his development to be a professional footballer in Egypt with Ittihad Basyoun in 2004 before a move to Othmason Tanta 2005 and finally ended up at El Mokawloon.
After years in the El Mokawloon youth setup Salah made his professional debut in 2010 as a substitute in an Egyptian Premier League encounter against El Mansoura.
He spent two full seasons with the El Mokawloon first team before a move broad to Europe in Switzerland with Basel in 2012.
After two full seasons with Basel, Salah completed a switch to Premier League giants Chelsea but was sent out on loan to Italian side Fiorentina and Roma, before Jose Mourinho sanctioned a permanent sale to the latter in 2016.
He spent just one full season as a Roma player where he impressed, before Liverpool brought him back to the Premier League for a substantial amount.
3. Salah and Egypt
Salah started playing for the Egyptian national youth set ups from the U-20 level.
He was part of the Egypt U-20 team that finished in third place at the 2011 African Youth Championship.
Salah also represented Egypt at U-23 level and was part of the team that competed in the football event of the London 2012 Olympic Games and progressed to the quarterfinal of the tournament.
He was also part of the Egypt senior national team that finished runners up to Cameroon at the 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) as well as the team to that qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, the country’s first in over 30 years.
4. Salah’s style of play
Salah is regarded as one of the best players in the world right now but in the early days of his career he was compared to Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi and was dubbed the ‘Egyptian Messi’.
Now in 2018 Salah beat Messi to the final shortlist for the UEFA award after an exceptional season with Liverpool.
The Liverpool highest earner has been compared to superstars such as Gareth Bale and Arjen Robben who are also left footed.
He can play in attacking midfielder, in the wide areas and as a supporting forward due to his explosive pace and dribbling skills.
5. Salah’s personal life and awards
Salah has a wife Maggi who he married in 2013, they have a daughter named Makka who was given birth to in 2014, he also is a devout Muslim.
Salah has been able to win both individual and team awards since his move to Europe in 2012.
For team awards he won the Swiss Super League and was a finalist in the Swiss Cup during his time at Basel, while he was a finalist in the 2018 UEFA Champions League with Liverpool.
Following his outstanding season with Liverpool Salah has emerged winner of several individual awards.
Before his move to Liverpool he won CAF Most Promising Talent of the Year, A.S. Roma Player of the Season and Globe Soccer Best Arab Player of the Year.
After his move to Liverpool the awards have kept coming in, Salah won three awards in one night when he scooped the PFA Players' Player of the Year, Liverpool Player of the Season and Players' Player of the Season.
Other awards are FWA Footballer of the Year, Premier League Golden Boot, Premier League Player of the Season.
African Footballer of the Year, BBC African Footballer of the Year, Goal's Arab Player of the Year as well as several PFA Player of the Month and Premier League Player of the Month awards.
