Seun Kuti submits his album to Grammys for consideration
Seun Kuti submits his latest album to the Grammys as he seeks a nomination and hopefully a win.
Afrobeat act Seun Kuti's "Black Times" album has submitted his latest album 'Black Times' to the Grammys for a nomination consideration.
On Saturday, October 27, 2018, he posted the album cover of his album with the words "FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION! 61ST GRAMMY AWARDS. BEST WORLD MUSIC ALBUM."
Seun Kuti went on to write "All my Grammy voting friends. Y’all know the vibes #getthesax" as the caption of his Instagram post.
If successful, his album will be nominated in the Best World Music Album category. His brother Femi Kuti has been nominated four times in this category but has not yet won it.

Black Times was released on March 2018 and it garnered rave reviews.
According to Pulse Music, "Seun Kuti is changing things and improving on arrangements. His guests are used with potent effect, and there is experimentation woven into the making of many records, with the call-and-response applied in more ways than before. It’s a chip off the old block in the thematic communication, but the music is expanding the skill is updated. “Black Times” is both a delight and a reminder that Africa can be better."
On October 14, 2018, Seun Kuti called out Kanye West for associating himself with his father, Fela. Seun's reaction was based on a video earlier posted by Kanye West where he said the spirit of Fela, Bob Marley, and 2Pac flows in him.
