Ahmed Musa says Super Eagles will pick AFCON 2019 ticket in South Africa
Ahmed Musa wants the Super Eagles of Nigeria to wrap up qualification for the 2019 AFCON against South Africa.
Super Eagles stand-in captain Ahmed Musa has stated that Nigeria aim to will pick up a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) ticket against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa.
The two sides are the top teams in the group and while the Super Eagles lead the second-placed Bafana Bafana are still undefeated in the group.
Speaking ahead of the anticipated clash between the two African football powerhouses, Musa says even though the Super Eagles are now top of the group, they want to avenge the defeat at home to South Africa.
Musa on South Africa
Musa made his opinion known in a statement by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as they landed in South Africa for the clash.
He said, “Our determination is to win and pick our ticket to the AFCON ahead of the final matchday next year. South Africa came to Nigeria to beat us and we are here to return the compliment.”
A draw maybe enough for the Super Eagles to book a qualification ticket to the AFCON after missing out on the last two editions.
Musa however says nothing but a victory avenging the loss at home to South Africa is acceptable.
He said, “We will not be playing for a draw. We won in Seychelles and against Libya in Tunisia and we are here to win as well.”
