Uganda call-up 30 players for Super Eagles friendly

Uganda have called up their best players home and abroad for the 2019 AFCON qualifier against Cape Verde and friendly in Nigeria.

Sebastien Desabre head coach of the Cranes of Uganda has called up 30 players for their upcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier and the international friendly against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The Cranes of Uganda take on the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde in their fifth game of the AFCON qualifiers and are top of their group.

Uganda have 10 points five more than second-placed Emmanuel Amuneke’s Taifa Stars of Tanzania.

A victory in the encounter against Cape Verde will seal a return to the AFCON for the Uganda and Desabre has called up 30 players to help prosecute the two encounters.

 

The team comprises of 16 foreign-based professionals which include Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeepers Denis Onyango, Emmanuel Okwi of Simba SC and Cape town City midfielder Allan Kateregga.

The team has four goalkeepers, 11 defenders, nine midfielders and six forwards for the encounters.

The Uganda team are expected to begin camping at the Lugogo with 14 local players on Friday, November 9.

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has also called up 23 players for the AFCON qualifier against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa, and also the game against Uganda.

Uganda take on Cape Verde at Mandela National Stadium,on Saturday, November 17 same day Nigeria face off against South Africa before both teams meet on Tuesday, November 20 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba, which hosted the 2018 Aiteo Cup final between Enugu Rangers and Kano Pillars.the Aiteo C
