Awoniyi says he is working towards his target of playing for the Super Eagles.

Liverpool loanee Taiwo Awoniyi has revealed that he is keeping his hopes alive for a Super Eagles debut.

I think it is every player’s dream to play for his national team,” he told Tribalfootball.

But still you can’t control it and Nigeria is blessed with the abundance of football talents everywhere.

“You just have to keep your hope alive, keep working hard and believe that with God all things are possible.

The forward has also never spoken with Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr but says he is working towards making the squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

“That’s why I’m a football player and have represented my country in all age grades national teams from the U17 to U23 teams,” he also said.

“It is good for me to be working hard towards meeting that target.”

Awoniyi joined Liverpool in August 2015 and has still not gotten a work permit in England because he is still without a cap for the senior national team of Nigeria.

The forward has been on loan six times since he joined Liverpool. This season, he has made 12 appearances for Mainz in the league and scored just once.
