Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi says Leicester City must fight for Champions League place

Ndidi says playing in the Champions League will be a plus in his career.

Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has warned his Leicester City teammates that they must fight if they are to finish in Champions League places this season.

With eight games left to play, Leicester City are third on the table, nine points behind second-placed team Manchester City and three points ahead of Chelsea who are fourth.

The Foxes allowed Chelsea to gain more ground with a 1-1 draw away at Watford in their first game after the Premier League restart.

Ndidi who played the 90 minutes of that game has stressed the importance of qualifying for the Champions League.

“It will be a plus to us as players, in our careers, if we can play in the Champions League. But it is something we have to work for,” Ndidi told Football Daily in a short video interview.

“It is not about what we have done in past matches. These eight games remaining, it is important for us to actually fight hard and pick the Champions League ticket.

“It is something we have to work for, we have to stay there. If we do our best and get the points, then we will get there.”

Ndidi and his teammates will have another chance to grab all three points when they host Brighton on Tuesday, June 23, 20.

The Nigerian midfielder has played 24 league games out of 30 this season for Leicester City and has scored two goals.
